The gruelling hours of filling out pages of forms and gathering evidence is not yet over once you get to the United States on a K1 visa. After you get married - which should happen within 90 days of entry, one should file for adjustment of status so that you would be able to land a job or visit the Philippines for a vacation without applying for another visa. The adjustment of status is your passport to getting the green card. It's not just about paperwork, but you should prepare $1010 for the application and some extra for your needed vaccines that aren't completed in the Philippines. We Filipinas are really expensive! That's why we should also be treated as a gem and not as a househelp or a punching bag once we get here. I am blessed to have a husband who doesn't give me any of those traumatic experiences. Last Friday, March 19th, we went to visit the civil surgeon for the I-693 document. I'm thankful for my friend who lives in Winter Garden right now, 'coz I never had to go through the whole list of civil surgeons in our area just to get my remaining vaccines. She already went through the process, so I just got the name of the civil surgeon from her and called the doctor's office up. We went to Dr. Jose A. Cornejo's Office at the Metro-West Professional Plaza. I had to call a week before, because I have learned that you have to set an appointment before going there. They only accept immigration processing every Friday from 9am until 2pm. I thought I only needed the tdap vaccine, so I was quoted $130 for everything ($55 for the vaccine and $75 for the form and Doctor's professional fee).
