Our little Crawfish party

My husband and I were supposed to go to this Crawfish party at 2210 S Rio Grande Ave ( http://www.thecrawfishparty.com/index.html ) , but we wimped out ‘coz we heard that it’s going to rain tonight. Plus they have an entrance fee of $25/ person and $2 for a boat of crawfish. So we figured we just get some crawfish at Publix, cook it and just enjoy our time at home. So what is a crawfish? Crayfish , crawfish , or crawdads — members of the superfamilies Astacoidea and Parastacoidea — are freshwater crustaceans resembling small lobsters , to which they are related. They breathe through feather-like gills and are found in bodies of water that do not freeze to the bottom; they are also mostly found in brooks and streams where there is fresh water running, and which have shelter against predators. Most crayfish cannot tolerate polluted water , although some species such as the invasive Procambarus clarkii are more hardy. Crayfish feed on living and dead animals and plants. [ 1 ] (sou
The weather is pretty nasty today, but for some odd reason, I like it. I hate having thunderstorms back home especially when I have to report for work that day in my smart casual outfit. I hated it even more when I lived in hellside (the real name of the place is hillside, but the streets are just HELL)you have to deal with big puddles of mud early in the morning and you might as well walk barefoot 'coz you get mud all over your stilettos and office pants. You're lucky if it's just mud, but sometimes hellside gives you more hell by giving you a flooded walkway with nowhere else to go. The house we live in was pretty, but the road is just way too worse to even describe. I survived a year there. Kudos to me and my 2 other roommies! So the weather today reminded me of the Philippines, but this time I have a smile on my face 'coz I'm just lounging on the couch with the a/c on with no chances of changing into a smart casual outfit and catch the bus. And even if I have to

New face same person

I changed the look of my blog today 'coz as I felt like I had to change the picture that I placed on my blog's header, since another year has been added to my exciting journey as a perpetually tanned Filipina. I had to admit though that I was way healthier and younger 2 years ago. I kept the picture on one of my folders to remind me that for once in my life I did fit into those tiny shorts and body hugging tops. My head did hurt from picking my new template. I checked out a lot of websites and I did like a lot of templates, but it took me awhile to pick the template which will suit the theme of my random rants. I picked this new look because it reminded me of my childhood days wherein I use any piece of paper to express how I feel. In the end, I had to burn those pieces of paper/compilations 'coz my mom always finds a way to read them and we usually end up in a very 'interesting' conversation. My mom is one detective I dare not cross and she will usually scavenge in

Mr. Crabs

I am selectively listening to Blood Hound Gang's Uhn tiss Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss almost the whole day. I say selectively, 'coz the lyrics is not really something you would be proud to share to everyone. But the beat is catchy and it triggers my happy brain neurons and makes me want to talk about....king crab legs. Yes, the king crab legs I had last Friday. I love crabs especially if it's cooked in coconut milk. My mom used to cook one whole pot for me everytime I visit Bukidnon. It's such a treat 'coz the Davao-Bukidnon trip takes around 4 hours, so going home to hot rice and a pot of crabs cooked in coconut milk is like being in heaven. It makes me forget how sucky my trip was and just makes me thank my mom for cooking my favorite food. But gone were those days when I just tell my mom I want crabs, 'coz here the crabs are very expensive! They don't have the wet market we have in Valencia that sells crabs for 240php per kilo. The cheapest is 8.99 USD per lb here.

I am a dork.

I think I am born to be in a place where it's serene. I am a Piscean who would rather sit along the seashore and listen to the waves as I sleep, than be in the party scene. Even as a teenager, I have never loved the crowded places. It makes me sick and paranoid. I of course had my fair share of crazy parties, but I was always wary of how much I drink and how I act in the crowd. I wasn't the wild kid, never was and never will be. For I am already in my late 20's and being in a very crowded place is my least favorite situation to be in. I am not excited for parties anymore. I am not a big lover or noisy places. I think I am becoming a bore. That's why preferred Davao over Manila - because I just can't stand the crazy streets of Manila and the stress the whole city brings to each individual. A lot of people from my place love to be in Manila, but I would very much trade places if I were given the chance to be in Manila for the rest of my life. Don't get me wrong th

Free trip to EPCOT (Disneyworld)!

January 22, 2010 It was my second day in the US and I was able to get to Epcot Disneyworld for free! It wasn't the best idea though 'coz I was still jetlagged and I was almost passing out towards the end of the day. It was that bad that I missed seeing the fireworks at Epcot and they said it is one of the best. Good thing I was able to see the Disneyland fireworks in HK back in 2008. It was still cold in Florida back in January. Florida had the coldest winter this year, yay for me I suffered 3 months of chill! :) I was wearing shorts that day 'coz I thought it would be warm, but wow I was freezing especially when it was night time. We had to leave soon 'coz I had a hard time opening my eyes and the muscles on my shoulders were already tense - that was a sure sign of stress and burn out. I hope my aunt can still get me free passes to Disneyworld soon. :) Epcot is a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort . The park is dedicated to international culture and technolo

Live.love.laugh.eat.and blog

Life is really full of surprises. I have been rambling in this blog on random moments because I am a very moody writer. I have to get into the right mood to be able to write something. If I'm not in the mood to write - even when I am very happy, I just stare at my screen and do the cycle of type and erasing on the first sentence. I blog without having a draft, that's how weird I am. I don't even mind my grammar when I'm writing. Sometimes it's my husband who will point out my lapses. But I'm all cool with that or sometimes I just leave my horrible entry out in the open. It's my blog, read at your own risk! :D Anyway, life is full of surprises 'coz I met a new friend whom I share a similar life experience like getting here on a K1 visa, living in Orlando, and so much more! I am hesitant in meeting new people 'coz I am used to being in my own comfort zone. It takes a while for people to warm up to me and for me to do the same thing. I have this huge an
