My short beach getaway

My Aunt and her family who came over to visit Florida picked me up on the 25th of June so we can spend the weekend at my Aunt's place 2 hours away from Orlando. Little did I know that their place is going to be paradise. We got there at 7pm and the first thing we looked for was the beach. We were all happy when we knew that they live less than 5 minutes away from North Redington beach. It was the first time that I went to the beach without getting into a car and getting all your beach stuff packed. We just had to cross the street and voila! Welcome to North Redington beach! They don't allow open bottle containers at the beach, so the sand is clean with no fear of getting your feet cut with broken glass while walking along the shore. I like the sand at Redington 'coz it's not the dark kind and the water is just the right temperature for swimming. The waves are not so big too. It just gets a little bigger in the afternoon, but if you're a surfer, this beach is not for

My Tuesday Adventure

I started my day at 9:30am. Hubby drove me off to the Social Security office to get my name changed. I had to wait 15 minutes under the scorching heat of the sun with the rest of 10 or more people because they are following the fire hazard rules and only a certain number of people are allowed at a time. I went there with everything prepared, so when we were allowed to go inside, a man handed me my number to get my name changed. To my horror, the number of the screen is 204 and I have 257 in my hand. I already psyched myself that it's going to be a long wait. I didn't bring a book, so what I did was observe people. There were a lot of Hispanics and Blacks. There were also Asians like me, but they were all Chinese. I didn't see any Filipino inside that office today - well at least where I was sitting. The guard was very strict with cellphones, but there are still some people who won't listen and they got reprimanded. The guard warned a man that if he uses his phone again,

Ben and Jerry's Ice cream in Phish food and Creme Brulee

So I went on an ice cream eating spree since Friday. Hubby gave me my first pint of Ben and Jerry's since I wanted ice cream to celebrate the weekend. He knows that I like chocolates, so he got me the Phish food flavor. No, it never tasted like fish. It is a chocolate flavored ice cream with melted marshmallows, caramel swirls, and that crunchy fudge fish. I like the combination of the crunchiness of the fudge fish and the smoothness of the chocolate in every bite. 9 out of 10 stars for this flavor. Then today, I got myself the creme brulee flavor because my friend made me curious about how it tastes. You can check her review here: http://notjustafoodblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/product-review-ben-jerrys-creme-brulee.html What she said is actually true and I love the fact that the sweetness is not so overwhelming with that right crunch in every bite. I had to put down my spoon to stop myself from finishing the whole pint. This is also 9/10. I'm not really sure which one is my f

Adobo rice

We had left over adobo from last night's dinner, so I decided to make adobo rice tonight. It is as easy as 1-2-3 and my husband loved it! :) What you'll need: - Adobo (pork) with the meat cut into little pieces (save the sauce). - 3 cloves of garlic, minced - cooking oil - rice - salt to taste How to ace it: 1. Heat oil in pan and add the minced garlic 2. When the garlic is brown, add the rice and cook for around 2 minutes 3. Add the pieces of meat and mix it with the rice and cook for another 2 minutes 4. Add the sauce and a little salt then mix it with the rice. Make sure not too put too much of the adobo sauce or else the rice will get too soggy. 5. Serve hot and enjoy! Instructions on how to cook adobo (just replace chicken with pork): http://deelixuz.blogspot.com/2010/03/chicken-adobo.html

My bucket list

sorta watched the movie "The bucket list" and I have no idea what it means until I was able to watch it. I say "sorta watched it" 'coz I have an attention span which can only last for 10 mins and I just felt the movie was too dragging. My brother was the one who finished watching the movie and went on playing the song "Say" by Jason Mraz which is the soundtrack of the movie. So maybe it was a good movie after all 'coz my brother had the determination to finish it. I just gave up on the 10th minute, I'm sorry. But what exactly is a bucket list? A bucket list is not the stuff you would like to accomplish in a day at work but it's actually a list of things a person wants to do before they "kick the bucket" or die. Okay, for some dying might be a morbid thing to think about. I am not going to tell you about the ways I want to die, rather the things I want to do before I die. For the love of cheese and macaroni, I still want to see my

Green Card Approved

Orlando has been my new home since January of this year. There were major changes in my life, not only did I leave my life as a single woman behind, but I also left my family, country, and my job. I am blessed to have a wonderful husband, because I never felt that I gave up a wonderful life. I felt even happier that I married a great person with the support of my family and friends with the hopes of visiting the Philippines again soon and getting a job in this new place. I have been a bum since I got here. It was great at first, but when you are used to working and earning your own money, sometimes - just sometimes, you would feel sorry for yourself because you can't buy the things you want. My needs are provided for, but I don't want to ask my wants from my husband even if he provides it too, because I know that there are things we need to spend money on which is the priority like bills and stuff. I have been working since I graduated from college and I sometimes feel bad for

From a daughter's heart

Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad. ~Author Unknown If you have a dad right now and still have a complete family and never saw your parents separate because of infidelity, I would like to tell you that you are LUCKY AND BLESSED. I have a family, I have a mom and I have a dad, but they are no longer together. Do you know how painful it is to see your parents separate after 17 years of marriage just because of another woman? Pain is an understatement that you get numb as years go by. But today, I am not going to talk about how bad of a father my dad was. I will instead talk about how I can remember him as my dad. It may have been 10 years since my dad left us, but I can still remember how he was as a dad. He was a great provider and downright funny. My mom will always tell us, with the 100 stories your dad is telling you, 101 are all craziness. He was a charmer and a comedian. He was loved my almost everybody because he can get your attention with his jokes a

The day I decided to earn money the easy way

Relocating to another country has its pros and cons and lately I have been dealing with the cons - waiting for the chance to land a regular day job. With fast Internet connection and a lot of time in my hands, I figured I should do something to earn money. With the help of my friends, I was able to use my extra time to earn money by rating articles and answering surveys. I just started yesterday and I already earned $10. Rating articles is the easiest 'coz all you have to do is read articles and click on how many stars you think the article is worth. The cost of each article would depend on how much time you would spend when reading the article. You will earn from a cent to 20 cents just by rating an article! You can also earn $5 by telling a friend about the site and giving them the chance to earn money on their own too. If you want to earn money rating articles, just visit this site http://www.readbud.com/?ref=4439896 . Read on! :) Aside from rating articles, a friend of mine als

He's been faithful

I may not be religious, but I'm spiritual. I will never be defined by religion 'coz it won't save me. There are times when I'm down and I have a lot of questions inside my mind, but this song reminded me of how great my God is and that I have no right to ask Him "why" 'coz through good and bad times, He has always been faithful to me. He blessed me even if I know that I am not worthy of any blessing. May you be blessed with the lyrics of this song as how it blessed me today and always. He's Been Faithful by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir In my moments of fear, Through Every Pain Every Tear There's A God Who's Been Faithful To Me When My Strength Was All Gone When My Heart Had No Song Still In Love He's Proved Faithful To Me Every Word He's Promised Is True What I Thought Was Impossible I've Seen My God Do He's Been Faithful Faithful To Me Looking Back His Love And Mercy I See Though In My Heart I Have Questioned Even Failed To
