My short beach getaway

My Aunt and her family who came over to visit Florida picked me up on the 25th of June so we can spend the weekend at my Aunt's place 2 hours away from Orlando. Little did I know that their place is going to be paradise. We got there at 7pm and the first thing we looked for was the beach. We were all happy when we knew that they live less than 5 minutes away from North Redington beach. It was the first time that I went to the beach without getting into a car and getting all your beach stuff packed. We just had to cross the street and voila! Welcome to North Redington beach!
They don't allow open bottle containers at the beach, so the sand is clean with no fear of getting your feet cut with broken glass while walking along the shore. I like the sand at Redington 'coz it's not the dark kind and the water is just the right temperature for swimming. The waves are not so big too. It just gets a little bigger in the afternoon, but if you're a surfer, this beach is not for you. If you like to bask in the sun and take a dip after a good tan, then I would recommend this place. It's peaceful, but you can also party it up at the open bar in one of the hotels.
Redington is a quaint beach town with cars giving beach goers the right of way when they press the cross button.
Then on Sunday, we all woke up early and packed our stuff to leave for Venice beach. It is located halfway between Tampa and Fort Meyers, Florida. It was an hour and a half drive from Redington. Along the way we passed by the Skyway bridge which connects St. Petersburg and Sarasota. I like the bridge 'coz along the way you can see piers where people are fishing and once you get to the arch of the bridge, you can see how steep it is going down so it's like riding a roller coaster inside your car. The view is breathtaking!
We went to their municipal beach where it's an excellent place to find sharks teeth and other fossilized materials. The beach doesn't have calm waters and it starts off deep right away, so I don't recommend it if you have little kids. Parents still brought their kids, but they always pay close attention to them. It is Florida, so the sun's rays stings so bad, but the wind that blows at Venice beach is cooler than at Redington and the water is a little colder too. One should bring a strainer to be able to get the famous shark teeth. I got two by just sitting down under the beach umbrella. I got lucky that day. Here's an article about Venice beach http://www.veniceflorida.com/shark.htm just in case you want to know more about the place.
The best experience I had at the beach was getting the chance to watch the sun set against the horizon. It was totally surreal and it made me appreciate life and its wonders. To quote a friend's comment on the photo I took, "Sunsets remind us that there is beauty even in goodbyes."
I say goodbye to the beach and hello to my healthy tan and to my husband whom I missed for 3 days.

It's great to be home, but I can't wait to visit the beach again soon.

Crafts for less

I don't really know what it is with the holiday season, but my "craftiness" usually kicks in whenever Christmas is fast approaching. It all started about a year ago when I decided to make personalized cards and gifts for my friends, family members, and colleagues. My Mom is really crafty, but I wasn't really interested in making projects when I was a lot younger, 'coz I'm just too lazy to even think about a concept. Our house in the Philippines will always be festive by October 'coz my Mom will decorate the entire place with so much attention to every detail, so that her holiday theme will flow all throughout our house. Meanwhile, I will just sit on the couch and watch TV and lounge like there's no tomorrow. I showed no interest at all, as everything was just too much for my brain cells to handle. 2012

I'm on a standstill. I feel so lost - I have lost myself into oblivion and I don't know if I can find myself again. All I see is darkness - I feel weak and hopeless. When will this agony end?  I want to be thankful for the blessings I have received, but the pain and challenges over shadows all the good things that are happening to me.  I feel like there's a dark cloud above me that just won't go away. It just sits there and I think it waits for me to feel really down and rain will just pour and wash way everything that I have left - my strength, hope, determination... everything. This feeling is killing me. When will the sun shine again? I want to quit. I can't quit. I wish I was a kid again, so I won't have to worry about grown up stuff. Growing up is hard, no one told me it is going to be easy in the first place. Who was I kidding?  I have to get out of this rut and be my strong, sure self again. This feeling is tiring.  I need that little glimmer o...

The day I decided to earn money the easy way

Relocating to another country has its pros and cons and lately I have been dealing with the cons - waiting for the chance to land a regular day job. With fast Internet connection and a lot of time in my hands, I figured I should do something to earn money. With the help of my friends, I was able to use my extra time to earn money by rating articles and answering surveys. I just started yesterday and I already earned $10. Rating articles is the easiest 'coz all you have to do is read articles and click on how many stars you think the article is worth. The cost of each article would depend on how much time you would spend when reading the article. You will earn from a cent to 20 cents just by rating an article! You can also earn $5 by telling a friend about the site and giving them the chance to earn money on their own too. If you want to earn money rating articles, just visit this site http://www.readbud.com/?ref=4439896 . Read on! :) Aside from rating articles, a friend of mine als...
