Ramblings of a Perpetually Tanned Filipina

If you like to add a little "crunch" to your coffee, then this is the ice cream for you. I wasn't that of a big fan 'coz it's just like eating iced mocha. This is the only Ben and Jerry's ice cream that survived inside our fridge for more than 3 days. The rest, 2 days max. :)

We went to the Outback Steakhouse a month or two ago and they served us this dark bread with a side of butter and I fell in love with it! It's my first time to taste and see such bread, so I asked my friend who is the author of Not Just a Food Blog     what it was (but I couldn't remember the name. lol) and suggested an alternative which I can buy at the grocery store - Pumpernickel .  So I checked it out at our local grocery store and I did find one. I got it for $2.99, a little pricey compared to your regular white bread because they only sell half a loaf. I got it anyway to give it a try.  It says Real Jewish Pumpernickel and the origin of the pumperickel is in Germany? Ironic. Just sayin'. It tasted a "little" similar to what I had at the Outback resto, but not really that much 'coz I tasted the bread-ish flavor more. I live in a peaceful community (unless our neighbor upstairs puts on his douche acts again) so any sound outside can be heard from our apartment. At 1pm today, I had free entertainment that I’ve never expected. I was about to take a nap when I heard a weird noise outside. So I took a peek and voila! My neighbor was rapping and singing (with his earphones on) with a cold one on his right hand. This was under 90++ degrees! He was just rockin’ it and feeling his song ‘coz from my viewpoint, I can see him close his eyes and moving his left hand, as if he’s scratching an LP. He not only faced one direction, but he would turn around like he had to face all his fans cheering while he’s jamming to his song. I just felt the need to document it and find a way to fit my camera lens into our blinds without being noticed by our neighbor. It lasted for 5 mins or so and he was just feeling his song so much that he never cared where he was singing it. He only stopped and went inside his apart

I remember the love for cotton candies when I was a little girl (until now I'm still little) and how it never fails to give me the happies. Everytime I see a cotton candy stall, I feel like those fluffy edible cotton on a stick is calling my name. I would then buy one only to realize that I paid so much for air and sugar. But no matter how lame it is to eat this pretentiously huge edible cotton ball, I would still feel giddy and happy inside.  I was so happy to find this Hula punch cotton candy pint when we went grocery shopping. I liked it for the fact that the packaging is so cute and there's that happy pacific islander with her ukelele. For a second I thought it's me placed in a cotton candy container. Except that my hair is straight and I have round eyes. I'm in the mood to write today 'coz I had a great time at the DMV. I had the fast pass from their manager,since I have been to their place two times and getting out of there empty handed. Good thing I got my SS card under my married name this week, so I was all set to get my non-driver ID and join my hubs in getting his driver's license renewed. We never had to wait in line 'coz we were called right away and with all the documents ready, a very nice lady processed everything with no questions asked. Well, she did ask me a question and that is how tall I was. When I told her I'm 4'11", she goes " I thought so." Good thing their stations are not too high, or else I would need a foot stool! My husband and I were watching Gordon Ramsay’s “Great Escape”. It’s a documentary about his trip to India where he tasted different kinds of food, cooked in a train, and tried the authentic chutney which was made out of ant eggs and chili. They showed authentic Indian cuisine – talk about an egg placed inside a quail, the quail placed inside a chicken, then the chicken placed inside a goat, then the goat placed on top of some specially cooked rice. It was prepared for a wedding and people loved it. So my hubs and I wanted to try Indian cuisine because some of the food they showed- especially the curry looked really tasty! We checked online for an Indian restaurant near our place, but we just missed their lunch special and we don’t want to spend so much money on food, so we figured we’d just try it some other time. I am a big fan of ice cream (hence the weight gain in 7 mos), but not so much when it comes to Ben and Jerry's Frozen Yogurt. Publix had the pints on sale one day so I got my favorite Everything but the... and this green pint which says lowfat all over it. It is Chocolate & Vanilla Low Fat Frozen Yogurts with Fudgey Brownies & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough as described on the Ben and Jerry's site.   To me, the flavor was a little bland and I was looking for that creamy-ish taste I always have with the other flavors I have tried. I think anything that is non-fatting will always have that weird taste. I don't think that I'd grab one of these again. I saw the biggest shooting star ever! Tonight is the annual Perseid meteor shower  and we went out to see it. The news said the Perseids shower will begin around 10pm our local time so we went out around 10:15 and what do you know, during our first two minutes outside, we saw a huge shooting star! I never saw anything like it and I forgot to even make a wish (as what people would do when they see a shooting star) because I was overwhelmed with what I have seen. I had to check pictures online and this was how it looked like: Isn't that amazing??? It passed right above us, so it's like literally wishing UNDER a shooting star. I saw another one but it wasn't too big and it went by quickly.  I wasn't only able to see the shooting star, but it's also awesome to see the meteor shower plus Venus, Mars and Saturn clustered in the evening sky.  At first I thought it was a plane, but 3 planes at the same time in the sky can't be possible, right? I know that I have been totally brutal with my trainees when I was still working as a trainer back home 'coz I want them to be excellent in their field. I know I was hated by many 'coz I don't know how to kiss people's asses. I even almost got in trouble with our big boss when I was only passing a few people during interviews. A lot of people were mad at me 'coz of my unbelievable standards. A lot of times it did affect me and all I wanted was to please everyone, but I was also pushed by my one of my supervisors not to lower my standards. I got reprimanded for passing a few people during interviews by our big boss, and I got reprimanded by my direct supervisor for passing a lot of trainees during my class. We had to pick up our dinner at the Chinese take out place tonight. I was excited to go with my husband to pick it up and I was a little surprised that when we went out of our apartment, I saw a couple kissing each other - the woman on the driver's seat and the man just right outside the car. Then my hubby surprised me by saying "oh!" I thought he was also surprised with what I saw until I realized what he was warning me about - a motherpumpkin chihuahua who went charging at me! It wanted to taste my bare tanned feet! I was wearing flip flops and shorts, so it had all the freedom to skin me alive. I was so nervous that instead of moving away from it, I was moving towards it! I tried running but it charged at me again! Good thing my husband was with me and he scared the ugly mutt away. But it was like a 5 minute struggle with that ugly creature! I hate chihuahuas! I have completed Day 6 of my workout and it was for me, a GREAT achievement. I have the tendency to easily get bored when I'm subjected to routinary stuff, but this time I had to fight my urge to quit because I realized that I don't fit into the jeans I got back in January. I want to be healthy again and fit into clothes that I want to wear. I have been a hater of love handles and seeing women wearing ultra fit jeans with an ultra fit tank top showing their side bulges is one of my pet peeves. So being that kind of person who is sporting those love handles now is somewhat a big blow to my own self esteem. I vowed not to drink soda this month and limit my snacking. I am taking it slowly 'coz I know the more you make drastic changes, the greater your chances of failing. I'm not getting any younger and I don't want to grow old overweight. Today marks a very important day of my life. I wasn't able to finish one cup of rice y'all!!!! I used to eat almost a bowl of rice before, but without noticing it, I was eating rice only during dinner time and I was eating less than a cup. I tried to eat a cup tonight and I felt a little dizzy so I had to give up my heroic act. I washed the dishes with a smile on my face.
