I consider myself blessed

If there's one thing I want to do, that's to be on my knees and pray and be thankful for all the blessing that I have received. For months, it had been my wish to work at the airport so I can start a career. I don't mind starting small, for as long as I am able to start. I applied to several different airlines and no one seemed to care. It was hard to accept at first, but I know I had to move on. So I got a part time job at one of the grocery stores her in Fl and it wasn't easy to swallow my pride. I did my job to the best that I can 'coz I believe that once you start something you must be able to finish it or at least, be good at it. My first month on the job was really challenging that I almost wanted to give up 'coz I wasn't happy with how I was treated, but hard work paid off and I was able to earn the respect and the trust of my colleagues and managers. I still wasn't contented on just being there and making my brain cells die little by little eac

Happy thanksgiving!

This is my first thanksgiving in the US and I really insisted that we have a thanksgiving dinner with the traditional turkey. My husband was kind enough to give in to my demand and helped me get all the stuff we need for dinner. We invited 3 of his friends over, since both of us don't have families here (I have relatives in Clermont, but they had plans for thanksgiving too). We had this huge turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, apple-cranberry cobbler, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie (the last 3 sides were still in the oven, that's why I wasn't able to include it in this photo). We just watched football after dinner and I'm glad that my husband's friends were happy about their meal. They all said I did a good job in preparing it and hearing that made me very happy because that means I am successful on my first ever hosting experience. Yeah, this was also my first time to host a dinner gathering without my mom around to tell me what to do. Today, I am

Early morning craziness

Got this from my former trainee's blog post and I'm in the mood to answer these silly questions 'coz I am still composing a well-thought post (like there's even one) Q: Apple juice or orange juice?      * Orange Juice. I'm not a big fan of apples. Q: Are you a morning or night person?    * Afternoon person. Everything goes downhill before and after that. Q: Which do you prefer, sweet or salty foods?     * Sweet   Q: What was your favorite cartoon character?    * The Tazmanian Devil.  Q: Are you a collector of anything?    *  I'm a collector of clutter and pens Q: If you could be any animal, what would you be?    * An owl 'coz I want to be wise. :D Q: What is usually your first thought when you wake up?    *  Am I late????   Q: What's your favorite color?      * Purple.  Q: Do you believe in extraterrestrials or life on other planets?      * Life on other planets, yes. But not necessarily humans. The universe remains a myster

Great Clean Fun!

When you go to Vegas, don't just bring your stilettos or sexy mini dresses. Try an adventure worth remembering and bring an extra pair of pants, shirt, and sneakers. Get ready to experience the right and legal kind of high!  October 26, 2010 was the day we had to wake up early - 7am to be exact, so we won't miss our ride to the Valley of Fire. We were ready to experience riding the quadbikes in the desert through  Adrenaline ATV Tours . We were picked up from our hotel by Eric and he had a great sense of humor even if it was still 8am. I checked on their facebook page after our adventure and read a lot of comments requesting for Eric during their upcoming trip - I wouldn't wonder why. lol!  We went to the Valley of Fire- Logandale Trails. " The Logandale Trail System is located on the North Side of the Valley of Fire, just one hour North of Las Vegas, Nevada. This trail system was dedicated in 1998 and is truly a trail system designated for all motorized

Mini-haul on a Tuesday

Today's good mood is brought to you by my day off! :) I felt giddy today knowing that no one called for me to report for work. Well, I made sure I turned my phone off while I was sleeping so no one will wake me up and ask me to cover for someone. I'm not sure if the same thing will happen tomorrow, so I made sure I had the time to go to the nearest Ross Dress for Less and check some items. Before I went there, I also went to the store next to Ross which is Shoeland and to my surprise, I found the shoes that are sold on amiclubwear! Well, not all of the shoes sold online were there but almost all of the shoes sold there really looked familiar to me 'coz I check that site everyday. At least I saw how the shoes look like in person and not just online and be surprised when I get to order one. I didn't buy anything at that place today 'coz I am very picky when it comes to shoes. My mom even gives up on me when it comes to shoe shopping 'coz it takes me a long time to

Wordless post about Vegas

  xoxo

Viva, Las Vegas!

I'm on a vacation, that's why I haven't updated my blog lately. Most of my friends know that I got married in March and the hubs and I never had any celebration after our wedding, so we decided to have our late honeymoon in October. I thought it will never happen 'coz I just got a job last month and usually they don't give you any time off from work. Miraculously, they never gave me a hard time and approved my request right away. I was overjoyed! A week in Vegas, yeah! We arrived in Vegas last Wednesday via Chicago. We were supposed to meet my Aunt (my mom's sister) and her family in Chicago, but we only changed gates and never left the terminal, so it was impossible to see them with the limited time we have at the airport. It was so unfortunate 'coz I wanted them to meet Tim and give them a hug, since I haven't seen my Uncle for more than 10 years and I only saw my Aunt and my cousin when I arrived in Chicago last January. She even told me she baked m

Easy recipe: Beef Stroganoff

I found this dish on a blog that has awesome Filipino and international recipes that are made easy. The author of this blog is Dennis Glorioso and the recipes he has there are easy to follow. Here's the link to his blog  http://mgalutonidennis.blogspot.com/ . I usually look at the recipes there for inspiration, but I haven't really cooked any of the recipes posted 'coz I was too scared to try. I know the recipes are very easy to follow, but I'm a novice to cooking and I am not sure if I will be able to follow the steps posted there. But tonight, with the push from my husband, I tried a new dish which is the beef stroganoff. Here are the ingredients I used tonight: 1lb sirloin steak cut into strips mushrooms, sliced 1/2 sweet onion ('coz I got the huge onion at the store) 4 cloves of garlic, minced 1 can cream of mushroom 2 tbps of fat free sour cream salt and pepper to taste Pasta I followed the steps from Mr. Dennis' beef stroganoff recipe ( click

Little things I got after getting my first paycheck

It was payday last Thursday and it was my day off yesterday, so I got the chance to shop for stuff I want. *winks* I feel good seeing my paycheck 'coz I know it's money I worked so hard for. At least I won't have to give my hubs a headache everytime I want to buy something. Since it's my first paycheck, I bought stuff that aren't really expensive. I don't have a car yet, so I didn't have the chance to go the mall and pick out some stuff. I wanted to buy shoes and a cute purse, but that has to wait. We have bills to pay, so I can't just use all my paycheck on things I just want. But getting these simple things yesterday made me feel happy inside. 'Coz I was able to buy it with my own hard earned money. I'm not allergic to Maybelline, so I got these stuff I need Here are the rest of the stuff I got: Sponge applicators for my foundation, facial wash, eyeliner, concealer, mascara, lip balm, lipstick, face powder, nail polish, and blush Add

Ghirardelli Chocolate

We visited my favorite Aunt (I call her Ate 'coz she's like 2 or 3 years older than me. She's my Dad's cousin, not my Dad's sister) and her wonderful husband at the Disney World Wilderness Lodge. They are from New York and they are here in Florida for their honeymoon. Too bad I forgot to bring our camera, that's why I wasn't able to take pictures with her and the hotel too. It's like being in a very huge log cabin and the place is a good spot to relax. We had to drive almost 45 minutes to get there though, so we can always opt to relax at home. When we left, my Aunt gave me this piece of chocolate 'coz she knows I love chocolates. haha! I even told her, give me a cheap piece of chocolate, I will still eat it as long as it's chocolate! I think I had too much of this though 'coz my throat hurts a little right now. I ran out of mineral water, so I was drinking like a bird. I did brush my teeth after going to bed, but I think the chocolate

Ben and Jerry's S'mores

I tried this out 2 weeks ago and I'm not a big fan 'coz it's too sweet for me. I have a sweet tooth, but this one was sweeter than what I can take. It took me 3 or I think 4 days just to finish the whole pint 'coz I feel like ants will be attacking me when I sweat. I don't remember tasting the marshmallows... or maybe I was just too bothered by its sweetness that I forgot it had marshmallows. Beware of that yellow thing right there. It's like eating a spoonful of sugar. You have disappointed me, S'mores.

I love finding great stuff on sale!

On a rainy Monday afternoon in Orlando, my hubs and I  decided to spend time checking out the Mall at Millenia and Florida Mall, since it's Labor day and I've heard that they put up good deals during holidays like this. We checked out the Old Navy outlet near the Mall at Millenia and I'm happy to find a pair of jeans on clearance and it says $8.99 on the tag! I immediately tried it on and voila! It fits me( a little tight on the waist, but I can still zip the whole thing. :p) and there's no need to fix the hem. It's from Diva and the original price was $19.99. Original price was $19.99 and I got this for $8.99 Then we went to the Florida Mall and since we park near JCPenny, we checked the the deals they had today. There's this one pair of jeans that I'v fallen in love with lately. It's called jeggings - they are leggings which are styled to look like tight denims. I like it because it looks like one of those skinny jeans, but it's not purely d

The Perpetually Tanned Filipina's Thursday bus adventure

WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD. Read at your own risk. If there is one thing I have learned today, it's that attracting positive thoughts brings you positive results. I took the bus for the 3rd time today, 'coz my hubs had to work and I didn't want him to take a day off just to drive me to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles). I had to go there to get my non-driver ID for the nth time 'coz I received a letter in the mail saying that I had a discrepancy on my birthdate. To me it was impossible 'coz all of my documents indicate the same birthdate. Since it was indicated in the letter that I had to go to their office and present documents, I took all the courage to take the bus - with a new route today. I went to the Social Security office two times, so I was familiar with that route. I woke up at 9am to get ready 'coz I knew that the bus will be passing by our street at 10-ish. I had to put sunblock on my face, but totally forgot to apply sunblock on my legs and

Ben and Jerry's Coffe Heath Bar Crunch

If you like to add a little "crunch" to your coffee, then this is the ice cream for you. I wasn't that of a big fan 'coz it's just like eating iced mocha. This is the only Ben and Jerry's ice cream that survived inside our fridge for more than 3 days. The rest, 2 days max. :)
